The ardent fans of Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif who had gone to watch their latest flick ‘De Dana Dan’ were taken for the ride by the filmmaker as the sizzling hot sexy number featuring the above superstars was not shown in the film.
The fans, who had bought the tickets mainly on the basis of huge promotion of that sensuous scene-- saree -clad Katrina Kaif drenched under rain, while Akshay Kumar touching her sensuously-- waited patiently in the theatre for that scene, but it never came and the audiences felt cheated. Now, it has come to light that director Priyadarshan had decided to keep the hot number out of the flick for the first three- four days of release, and then include the hot number in the film.
The logic behind all this is said to be the feeling that during the weekend, the audiences would anyway go to theatres to watch the flick, and so the potentially attractive number should be kept for a later period.
The buzz doing the rounds in the industry is that Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif’s sizzling rain dance number (Gale lag ja….), which had been doing the rounds for all this while to promote the flick, can be viewed from Tuesday onwards. However, this step of the filmmaker has started a debate about the ethical side of the story, especially from the point of view of a viewer.
In fact, the fans, who had bought tickets to watch Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif sizzling chemistry on the screen in that rain song, were feeling cheated. They argue that they were first to patronize the film and so they should have been treated with more respect and not cheated by removing the song from the flick for first few days.
The industry analysts are of the view that this step amounts to shortsightedness on the part of filmmakers. It is possible that some hard core fans of Akshay-Katrina Kaif may return to watch the sizzling hot number in theatres, but majority will never come. And even in future they will be wary of visiting theatres for the same reason.
They point out that if Priyadarshan wanted to keep the sexy dance of Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif for later times, he should not have promoted the flick on that basis. There are numerous examples in bollywood when a song number had been added to attract the viewers at a later stage (remember ‘Amitabh Ko Bulao To Jane…’ number from Madhuri Dixit’s ‘Tezaab’, which was added after the movie became hit).
But it is for the first time in bollywood history that the main attraction of the flick is missing from the first day of its theatrical release(in this case Akshay-Katrina’s number ‘Gale Lag Ja’ missing from ‘De Dana Dan’ from day one).

Stars overhead automatically seem to align in their favour whenever Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif come together on the silver screen. From Namastey London to Blue, the duo has enthralled and enchanted the movie buffs with their unmatched chemistry.

Now, the Akshay-Katrina juggernaut rolls on further with this Friday’s release De Dana Dan.

“In the film my character is crazy about Katrina. But he’s poor and she’s rich. So he has to find ways to impress her. For this he even commits a crime which goes wrong…the film is a non-stop comedy,” Akshay said about the movie.

Incidentally, it was Akshay who got Katrina on board for this film. All Akki had to do was call Katrina and she immediately agreed to be his leading lady even though she doesn’t have a very substantial role in this multistarrer featuring Paresh Rawal, Sunil Shetty, Sameera Reddy and Neha Dhupia.

Katrina, who’s presently unable to promote the movie because of poor health, previously said: “I can’t say no to Akshay...I have immense respect for him.”

Akki, on his part, says he appreciates Katrina’s gesture and would gratefully tell her “thank you ji” when he meets her.

A lot has been said about the duo’s sensuous chemistry in a rain song in the film. But Akki has a different take on it. He says what people see as sexiness is nothing but pain because he had fever while shooting the song and Katrina too had sprained her back.

Mumbai: Bollywood Barbie doll Katrina Kaif has rebuffed reports of her trying her hands in producing movies.

In an interview she said, “I am happy with acting.” She said she has no plan to switch over to production field.

She said she had no clue from where these rumours originated. She never gave any indication of coming into production.

She said that she had no plan to produce flicks. Rubbishing all these stories, she said that those were speculation.

Presently, she is enjoying success of “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (APKGB)" that is doing well.

APKGB that features Katrina and Ranbir Kapoor is getting good response from audience.

Kaif, on her part, is pumped up about the song. “I am excited. It is for the first time that I have managed to match up to Akshay’s energy level,” she said. When asked about the sensuous dressing she said, “It is the typical wet song that every Bollywood heroine does at some point in her career,” adding that she got tired of changing her wet chiffon saris, which kept shrinking after every sequence.


“Katrina has always maintained in her interviews that she’s a jeans and tee kind of a person. She’s clearly trying to make a statement here,” says Mallika Sen, a media professional. “She seems to be trying to break her innocent and cute image and to get critics to take her seriously. Be it in Ajab Prem…, De Dana Dan or Rajneeti, she’s attempting variety in her looks and acting,” says an industry person choosing to stay anonymous.


Sources from the crew of the movie, which releases this Friday, reveal that Akshay and Katrina shot the seductive song without any hesitation. Later, there was a debate among the cast and crew on whether to use it as a promotional song but Akshay advised against it saying it may give a wrong impression.

APKGK is romantic comedy film starring Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. The movie is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The movie has created a lot of hype in the recent times with its music on everyone's lips. The movie is slated to release on the 6th of November along with Madhur Bhandarkar's intense drama, Jail. De Dana Dan is about Nitin (Akshay Kumar) and Ram (Suniel Shetty) who are only lucky in love and otherwise their life is a big zero as is their bank balance! But now their rich girlfriends, Anjali (Katrina Kaif) and Manpreet (Sameera Reddy) have given them an ultimatum to earn enough money so that they can elope. Or else forget them forever. Broke and desperate Nitin and Ram need to make big money and fast. They hit upon an audacious plan to kidnap Moolchandji, the spoilt dog of rich bitch Archana (Archana Puran Singh). But Moolchandji runs away, and the police think it's Nitin who's been kidnapped. As the guys try to get their hands on the ransom money, they encounter assorted characters like a Chinese Don, a hired assassin, an ACB officer, a club dancer, an ambassador, a young frustrated wife, a letch, a drunken waiter and a dead body nobody wants. What happens next is De Dana Dan as everything and everyone goes helter-skelter.
De Dana Dan is slated to release on the 27th of November. So which Katrina movie are you going to watch this winter?
